Dr Richard Maponya Institute intends to establish national and international strategic partnerships; and develop collaboration models with the South African colleges, academies, incubators, universities (of technology, traditional, and comprehensive), public & private companies, business schools, professional bodies, foundations, local & national chambers of commerce & industry, bilateral chambers of commerce & industry, Government agencies (local, provincial and national level), and institutes with similar objectives.

The University of Johannesburg has been identified as a potential and appropriate partner in the following areas of my Institute;
- The University of Johannesburg hosts the Dr Richard Maponya Annual Lecture on Entrepreneurship, which will be staged annually during the Global Entrepreneurship Week
- The University of Johannesburg Main Library archives the entrepreneurial legacy of Dr Richard Maponya
- The University of Johannesburg hosts the quarterly Think Tank Sessions of Dr Richard Maponya Institute for Skills and Entrepreneurship Development
- The University of Johannesburg and Dr Richard Maponya Institute jointly offer Skills and Entrepreneurship Courses/Programmes that lead to formal and vocational qualifications
